Workplace wellbeing industry leader is latest appointment in ongoing expansion.
30th April, 2024.
Workplace behaviour and culture specialists byrne·dean today announced experienced workplace and wellbeing industry leader Nick McClelland as Chief Executive Officer.
McClelland joins after 18 years consulting globally on employee benefits, culture, health, engagement and wellbeing, with roles at Thomsons Online Benefits (now Darwin) and Marsh McLennan. Most recently, he led workplace health platform Champion Health as Chief Growth Officer.
McClelland’s main priority will be leading the business forward through sustainable growth and creative innovation, including driving byrne·dean’s ongoing development of digital services to offer its clients.
Interim CEO Matt Dean returns to his role as Co-Founder, acting on the firm’s Board of Directors.
McClelland’s arrival is the latest milestone in the ongoing expansion of byrne·dean, following recent major hires to the firm’s Resolution and Strategy teams, and the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer in Anna Arbuthnot.
The firm continues to expand its team and expertise to meet growing demand as workplaces everywhere face new challenges to their workplace dynamics; with societal, technological, and generational shifts developing at speed.
McClelland commented: “I am fascinated by workplace dynamics and relationships, and in particular the new, modern challenges they face as the world changes. byrne·dean is uniquely placed to address these challenges through a combination of legal expertise, a deep trust in human connection, and a strategic approach to often complex and emotive workplace issues. Our purpose is to create kinder, fairer workplaces that realise the potential of people and business - a natural alignment with my own purpose and values, and I’m incredibly excited to be a part of the team.”
Matt Dean, Co-Founder, byrne·dean commented: “We have found someone who cares as much about our purpose and our values as I do, and who's properly equipped to lead a work behaviour consultancy in a technology-driven age. I’m looking forward to seeing Nick and the fantastic team we have assembled around him creating those kinder, fairer workplaces.”
byrne·dean announces departure of CEO Victoria Lewis and arrival of COO Anna Arbuthnot
byrne·dean, a trusted workplace behaviour and culture specialist, today announced the forthcoming departure of Victoria Lewis, its CEO, after an impactful 7 year tenure; Victoria joined the employed team in 2009, having already spent some years as an associate.
Victoria has played a pivotal role in the company's recent growth and has led byrne·dean through remarkable times. Under her guidance, the organisation has transformed workplace cultures worldwide, empowering individuals and organisations to foster kinder, fairer, and more productive work environments.
The Board has appointed Co-Founder Matt Dean as interim Chief Exec and started the search for a permanent replacement. Many of Victoria’s key responsibilities have passed to Anna Arbuthnot, who joined us at the end of the summer in a new Chief Operating Officer role. Anna brings over 16 years’ experience in the world of workplace dynamics to the role, and will lead on the daily operations of the business and execution of its business strategy, including overseeing the continued digitisation of byrne·dean’s Training offering and the growth of its Resolution and Strategy businesses.
Victoria Lewis expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she has had at byrne·dean, stating, "I am enormously proud of what we’ve achieved at byrne·dean, the team we have built, and the incredible impact we have made on workplace cultures around the globe. I have been privileged to lead a team of exceptional people, and I know that it is this team which will now take byrne·dean forward to even further success. For me, it is time to take some time out and then to move on to new opportunities."
On behalf of the Board, Matt Dean expressed deep gratitude for Victoria's stewardship during his personal health challenges and the company's transformative phases. He said, We are very grateful to Victoria for her stewardship of byrne·dean over the last 7 years. She has taken us through some really challenging times (not least the pandemic), been at the centre of developing meaningful partnerships, and leaves us with a great future as a genuine thought leader. Victoria has enormous talent, and we wish her every success in her future career, whatever that may be."
As byrne·dean embarks on this new chapter, the organisation remains passionate about helping create workplaces that foster kindness, fairness, and realise the potential of all their people.
