I’m interested in how people can think well for themselves and with others, including how we can set up conversations, meetings and organisational cultures where people do the rich, independent thinking which delivers real value. When this thinking is combined with an understanding of personal strengths and what’s already working, it can unlock a rich seam of energy and commitment to the tasks at hand.
I turned to coaching, training and facilitation following over 20 years as a policymaker in the UK Civil Service. This essentially involved vast amounts of strategic thinking, problem-solving, negotiation and influencing people at every level. I see many parallels with the requirements and pressures on people working in professional services, and find that my outsider perspective can bring fresh insights and different thinking to thetable.
I enjoy working with byrne·dean because I believe we can and must make work better. The team and the clients always make me think, and the organisation’s values around kindness, mental wellbeing and inclusion resonate with mine.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me outdoors. I love running long distances, seeing where my legs and my thoughts will take me.
