We spend so much of our lives at work. Often spending more time with colleagues than with our friends and family. How we are treated and how we feel at work has a huge impact on the quality of our lives. This thought interested me from the beginning of my career. It led me to become an Employment Lawyer. I spent 10 years working in private practice and in house roles helping both businesses and individuals navigate workplace issues. I saw how many, potentially avoidable, workplace issues arose and how much time and energy it took to manage them. I also saw patterns of behaviour that if addressed earlier could have resulted in more positive outcomes for all concerned. I started to think there must be another approach to dealing with these situations.
It was this thought that led me to join Byrne Dean as a Principal Consultant. I deliver a range of workplace training sessions. My focus is on facilitating training to provoke reflection, raise awareness, generate discussion and increase human connection.
I’m passionate about this work because I see there is huge opportunity to avoid workplace issues arising and if they do, to deal with them at an earlier stage and a better way. But also, more broadly to create work environments where everyone can thrive.
